Representative Cases

Mr. Hobbs, a former federal prosecutor, represents clients on a variety of legal matters, with a focus on litigation in state and federal courts, at both the trial and appellate levels. His litigation experience includes a number of jury trials, as well as complex bench trials. Mr. Hobbs is licensed to practice in all the state and federal courts of Virginia, the state courts of Tennessee, and the Eastern District of Tennessee, as well as before the Courts of Appeal for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Prior to joining Elliott Lawson & Minor, P.C., Mr. Hobbs also practiced law in Roanoke, Virginia, and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Glen M. Williams, senior district court judge for the Western District of Virginia, and to the Honorable Cynthia D. Kinser, justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Mr. Hobbs received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, where he majored in communication and political science, in 1995. He received his legal education at the University of Virginia, from which he graduated in 1998.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Hobbs is active in a number of bar associations, serving on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Bar Association's Young Lawyers' Division and chairing two of the Division's committees. He also previously served on the Virginia Historical Records Advisory Board. In his spare time, Mr. Hobbs enjoys cooking, reading, amateur radio, gardening and tennis.
